lyrics
Leuchtend tobt der Geisterwald
Aus schwarzem Wasser steil empor
In düstre Wolkenräume
Hinauf zum wilden Donnerberg
Im Schatten der alten Bäume
Vorbei am grauen Eichenmann
Sein Laub mit Grimm das Feld bedeckt
Es schweift mein Blick in weites Rund
In dunkle Wälder raue Wucht
Sieh dort entfernt den Bergeskamm
Die schauerliche Himmelsschlucht
Der Steg führt mich am Hang entlang
Über Wurzeln, Stock und Stein
Weit oben über Berg und Tal
Hier will ich für immer sein
Für immer sein
Dort schweben irre Lichter
Dort rauscht ein alter Geist
Dort tritt der Zwerg aus starrem Fels
Dort glüht mein Herz so heiß
Leuchtend tobt der Geisterwald
Weit hinter tausend Flüssen
Leuchtend tobt der Geisterwald
Ein Flügelschlag die Zeit zerreißt
Wie Silberfunken sprühn die Sterne
Aus tiefen Nebeln wühlt ein Sturm
Auf zur Bergeshöh’
Wo eisig Tod und Leben ringen
Dort wüten wilde Flammen
Dort spricht der mächtige Wald
Dort jagt die heil'ge Götterschaar
Dort lebt ein Kult so alt
Leuchtend tobt der Geisterwald
Weit hinter tausend Flüssen
Leuchtend tobt der Geisterwald
Ein Flügelschlag die Zeit zerreißt

The atmosphere of this album is fantastic. Makes you feel like you're knee-deep in the trenches drenched in mud, filth, sweat, and blood. Truly encapsulates the horrors of World War I, and the fact that the lyrics of some of the songs are taken from old war letters really adds to the authenticity.

Really liked the raw style with very well-crafted melodies, the raspy vocals and every bit of the gloomy atmosphere, reminiscent of Rimruna, Krael and Dauþuz, to cite a few raw BM German bands I also like a lot. This one is a 4-track EP remaining under half-an-hour of punchy rawness sachavonkarl74

The atmosphere on this record is amazing dark and beautiful almost spiritual at some points and crushing at others every song gave me goosebumps at some point vaguy22
Nearly a decade after their last LP, the Chicago post-metal trio resurface with a punishing concept album set in an apocalyptic wasteland. Bandcamp New & Notable May 5, 2024
The metal’s band revelatory new record crosses genres and styles, effortlessly combining seemingly incompatible subgenres. Bandcamp Album of the Day Apr 26, 2024

The first 30 seconds of "Revenge by Fire" convinced me to get the whole album! It is a face-melting blend of speed and black metal, reminiscent of Hellripper! KVAEN is a Swedish solo project much like Hellripper but many known guest musicians helped J. Björnfot in his endeavor. Altogether it is really a solid debut album, I loved the melodies and the pace changes in the second half too, ending with a "calm" instrumental one. Well-done!! sachavonkarl74
